dallascon, briefly
went to dallascon karaoke last night, since it was free, after all, and ended up staying the night with my friend elle!!
i didn't go to karaoke at chicon last year, because i wasn't feeling well, so it was nice to get to go again.
a lovely lady brought her replica impala and let people take pictures inside and outside of it, which we took full advantage of:
we got a pre-karaoke photo with richard, who i hadn't met until last night--what a sweetie he is, and i wish i'd gone for the kiss like she did!!
while we were waiting for karaoke to start, elle went out for a cigarette and brought back a girl i went to high school with, who i hadn't seen or spoken to in years--they met last year at dallas, apparently, and she recognised me immediately. what a small incredible world it is. back when we still spoke on tumblr, she asked my permission to get a tattoo based on all things shining, and lo and behold, she did!
(there's a tiny white star on the bottom tip of the moon, too, that you can't see!)
we stayed until midnight at karaoke and were pretty close to the front. what is there to say about karaoke besides that it's awesome? at one point travis aaron wade came into the audience and was running around pushing a mic into people's faces during "white and nerdy"--he got to me, asked if i knew the lyrics, and i didn't know what to do so i yelled "nO" and kind of just........touched his bicep for no reason

anyway, it was so nice. i mentioned on twitter that no matter how long i'm at a con, whether it's a whole weekend or just an evening like last night, being around the fandom feels so good, and i needed it so much. i love you people.
