It was good to have clothes, this time round. Following his first day and night in the asylum Guo Jia had spent the previous day with a mild cough. Fortunately the cough had passed quickly; these corridors echoed and exploration required discretion, especially in the wake of the so-called nurse's attacks. And what precisely to make of that ( ... )

"You did not take long," Cao Pi commented when the strategist entered, not even casting a glance at his direction. It was that particular way Guo Jia walked, light and calm, that made it easy enough to tell who his visitor was; not that many people came to visit him to begin with, other than Nunnally (who had no footsteps to begin with), the guards (heavier and brisker, as if their mere approach was meant to be intimidating already), or Guo Jia himself.

He stood up straight, holding the chair leg lightly at his side and already approached the door.

"Let's go. Be ready to encounter resistance."

"I would hate to squander our limited time frame for expedition."

Guo Jia appeared unconcerned by the prospect of resistance, though he did not take it lightly. Without martial ability, if stealth failed, he would have to resort to a combination of misdirection and using the environment to full advantage. He preferred to have plans already in place, but that was impossible when facing so much that was unknown. Fortunately to be a good military advisor, one had to be able to adapt to changing situations and respond quickly and appropriately.

"My Lord has a destination in mind?" he enquired lightly ( ... )

Cao Pi smiled, a glance and faint arch of his lips that had an almost mocking quality to it. "Of course," he answered simply when he stepped through the door and into the hallway.

He had no intention of telling Guo Jia anything else; his silence and brisk walking speed made that much clear. But he walked down the hallway with enough security and sense of a target that it was clear that he knew where he was going. They passed cell by cell, and he only walked slow enough to be silent - to avoid unnecessary attention and to be prepared in case they would encounter somebody.

It suited him to leave Guo Jia a little in the dark. It was not an issue of trust, but Cao Pi was a man who rarely spoke more of things than he had to. He was used to keeping his opinions and plans to himself, under the tight seal of silence of a man who was waiting for his day and for the right time. And so, he avoided letting Guo Jia know more than he had to; he wanted him somewhat unprepared even. Guo Jia could probably tell. It was at the same time his first ( ... )

Vegeta sat next to the door with his arms and legs crossed. His eyes were closed and his breathing was light and steady. He sought the world outside his cell with ears alert and senses peaked. His roommate was gone, but Vegeta didn't care much for others. The possibilities of his fate didn't cross his mind and was of no concern to him. He was cold and calculating. The company of others was of no importance ( ... )

The sudden comment was startling, but it came from behind, where they had already walked, so the speaker was evidently not a guard. The fact that the comment was crude and aggressive, on top of being an interruption, immediately drew an expression of distaste from Guo Jia. So much for going about unnoticed and in silence. If there were any guards or staff members nearby, then their cover was already blown ( ... )

How Face had missed out on the action with the crazy demon nurse or whatever it had been was a mystery to him. Everyone else got exciting adventures and he ended up with some giggling and creepy sound effects. It had been less than thrilling, if he was honest, but most things in this place were ( ... )

Two newcomers and none of them armed or hostile; these were the things that interested Cao Pi, and after confirming these facts, he did not grant either Vegeta or Face another glance. Instead, he turned back to the door, now lightly pushing Guo Jia away to have a better view at the lock. Confirming that it was locked as Guo Jia had said, suddenly, he had an idea ( ... )

Vegeta snickered. He was smaller than the others, but it was something he was used to, and stood with an undeniable aura of confidence and power. It had a tinge of evil to it that still held strong, but being without his normal strength made erupting the place into a chaotic inferno an impossible task. He challenged Cao Pi's standing, albeit silently, with his arms crossed over his chest.

He gave the Chinese man a hideous smirk, "I'm almost insulted that you ask. Almost." Despite his small size, the Saiyan's voice was low pitched and raspy, coming from deep within his chest. It shuddered with another snickering chuckle, which eroded into a quiet growl as Vegeta stepped towards the door. He put a hand on it briefly before gathering his strength. He lifted a leg and lashed it out against the epicenter of the door, busting it through and shattering it inward.

"No hindrance at all," he hissed.

At the light push, Guo Jia made sure to step back a number of paces out of the way, unconcerned by the dismissal. Seperate from Cao Pi and the apparent warrior prince, he observed their exchange with silent interest ( ... )

Face watched the exchange with surprising - well maybe just for those who had met him here. He had, after all, not gone out of his way to advertise being a good commando after all - silence, taking it all in and mentally cataloging information about the others. Oh this would be fun.

He met the cheerful one's expression with a good-natured smirk of his own, since he liked the combination of smart and snarky under pressure. "Oh I can think of lots. Bombs, for example. Those usually don't do well with brute force. Or small fluffy animals. Or unfluffy ones. I've got these pet insects at home that tend to escape their cages but really I can't see smashing them as the way to handle it. Also the broken door is a fantastic way to announce our presence to the entire asylum. You do realize how quickly they'll figure out who was involved now, don't you?" He asked, finishing his speech with a long suffering look at the door kicker in question. Worst impromptu commando team ever.

"Then let us hurry," Cao Pi suggested, already through the door. He had given Vegeta a nod that could be interpreted as either gratitude or respect. Of course the other man had a point - a very good one in fact. He was doubtlessly sensible and intelligent, but if Cao Pi was one thing, then he was a pragmatist, and there was little use complaining about something that was too late to change now. He wanted to find out whatever he could in the office, before they did not have the chance any more.

He waved the others to follow when he entered, and took a look around, primarily to see if there were any weapons lying openly around, and then went to look through the lockers or any other hiding places where one could expect weapons.

"Fengxiao, see what information you can find," he instructed the strategist in Old Chinese, then nodded at Face, very well aware that the man most likely could not understand him, and added in English, "Him, too ( ... )

The office was mundane. At a first glance it looked like a regular office with a desk and a chair behind it with two in front for patients. A pen was laid out over the top of a neat stack of papers. Off to one side of the desk surface was a single note. It read the following.

There have been reports of a mass hallucination. This isn't the first group of patients to see it and I want the source found and dealt with. Make sure it has nothing to do with the signs of tampering with the West Wing's doors.

There's no name signed and the back of the note is as ordinary as stack of papers. The paper stack is day to day paperwork, a few names of patients listed in the right sections but nothing else. Possibly paperwork prepped for the following day.
