"These?" Garnier's voice took on a slightly lighter tone as he thoroughly stirred the fine powders into the mix, watching them slowly vanish and stain the mixture with their own color. "Of course. Each one grows somewhere in this world and has been used as a medicine for hundreds of years. They are all entirely useful in their own ways - and always in making those involved feel better after a long period of illness." Of course, whether or not the herbs themselves caused pain as well was a fact he conveniently left out. Lavi would note upon that if he liked; the boy was known for high intelligence, if not common sense.

The syringe nearby was a tool he hadn't yet been given a chance to use. He didn't relish using it, of course; the sharpness of the needle and the clear damage it could do on its own reminded him of a subtle weapon ... a very particular subtle weapon, at that. Still, its creation was incredibly helpful. To get a substance into a person without forcing it down their throat, thus eliminating a long, needless struggle, was a wonderful development, and he wished that it had been created earlier ... but here he was, and it was high time that he got on with his work.

"You look unwell, my child. Tell me, have you eaten much of late?" Carefully, Garnier drew some of the mixture up into the syringe, admiring the simplicity and effectiveness of it all.
