A friend of mine and I were talking one day about various aspects of today's (or yesterday's) fashion, and I have some questions to put out into the community.
First off, let me say that I do not intend to offend anyone with this post. It is pure research, so please don't kill me with rocks.
1) We design clothes for both men and women. My friend is female and has a little extra baggage than the typical twigs on the runway. She feels that, even though "plus-size" models and clothing are sized differently, they aren't quite "plus-size" enough. To put it in her words, she said something similar to "plus-size models are actually only a size or two bigger than your typical model". We feel that there is a large demand in the fashion world for such garments waiting to be met, and we are considering going in such a direction. My question for the women in the community is what would like to see in line of plus-size clothing with aesthetics similar to punk, steam, cyber, and such other styles as well as everyday-wear?
2) This one is for the men. We frequently draw inspiration from...well everywhere really. This means that we sometimes get to bend the gender roles. Some garments, we believe, may have turned out to be a bit too extreme for the general community. For example, designs involving skirts, corsets, jewelry, and other such items that would normally be seen on a woman. The question here is would you readily wear and purchase garments that challenge the gender line in such a way?
Please, feel free to discuss, ask questions, so on and so forth. Again, this is purely research, no need for hate mail.
