Looking for help with steamy Alice ideas

I think it would be rather interesting to create a steampunk version of Wonderland's Alice. I have a design in mind (a light blue dress with this bodice with sleeves similar to this) with an embroidered apron I have on hand.

To me, such an ensemble is clearly Alice, but I'm a bit concerned that others would not recognize it as steampunk. Does anyone have advice for me?
