FREE museum exhibit with fellow steampunks!
Who doesn't love Harry Houdini? And especially, what good steampunk doesn't admire the man? For none can fail to be impressed at someone who manages, not only to escape from handcuffs, straight-jackets, safes and water-torture cells, but to rock a detachable 20s style collar and/or a tailcoat while doing so. He fought automatons in serialized films, spiritualist frauds in real life, and was a generally fascinating figure. This
museum exhibit covers his life and legacy, from his first thrilling escape (from his hometown of Appleton, Wisonsin) to the influence he's had on contemporary figures. Admission is free!
We will gather outside the museum at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 18th, 2010, and perhaps do a photo shoot, then explore the exhibit itself. Afterwards, we will shall adjourn to the nearest pub (suggestions of venue welcome!) for general socializing.
Steampunk-wear encouraged, but by no means required.
