I cobbled this together out of stuff from my closet for Anime North a couple weeks ago; I'd bought the adorable hat from a friend and wanted to wear it. Of course the only kimono in my rather considerable collection that matched the hat was this fully-lined shibori favourite of mine, which while totally awesome (I have a huge soft spot for kanoko shibori) is really REALLY not summery, especially with a 1900-style silk blouse underneath and a wide leather belt on top. And the A/C wasn't working very well in the convention centre, of course. I suffered for fashion...
In retrospect I wish I'd hitched the skirt shorter so you could see more of my boots. I also finally figured out a quick way to rig a decent pseudo-1900s hairstyle with nothing but a few hairpins, but sadly you can't really see it very well due to the black background. I also realized halfway through the day that I'd crossed my undercollar backwards. -_-'
This was an experiment; will probably revisit the concept with other kimono perhaps.
ALSO: Does anybody know of super-awesome steamy photoshoot locations in Toronto? I want to get some nice shots of my Steampunk Lolita this summer. Period-looking buildings/park would be good, or even crazy rusted machinery for an entertaining contrast.
