Steampunk doctor, anyone? :)

I am a medical student IRL and would love to dress as a Steampunk-era female physician as my first costume. I do plan on wearing female attire. I was wondering if you all have any ideas, photos of prior creations, items to buy, or other advice. Thank you!

A good doctor's bag with terrifying implements is perfect. For example, we have a vet on the Steam Century cast and he once used his cow pistol syringe to terrify players who needed to be inoculated against lycanthropy. Antique bone saws are also great, but might be pricey ( ... )

Most 19th century doctors dressed in ordinary (generally middle class) clothing, with smocks or aprons to protect their clothes when working. As a result, you can use a normal Victorian casual dress and simply add to taste (for example, the apron, or a doctor's bag or box with surgical tools and medicines).

Your best bet will probably be a late Victorian or Edwardian blouse and shirt combination, which will produce a female version of a male doctor without a suit coat:

A good example would be the character of Dr. Ogden from the "Murdoch Mysteries":

you might do a lab coat style jacket over a bustle skirt as a base and add a bunch of period medical accessories. You could even do a medical corset - you can sometimes find them on ebay or at estate sales.

if you want to go a little late in the setting, you can get some ideas from the BBC drama Casualty 1906.
