A question of aging

Mar 12, 2010 13:48

I have recently completed my latest project, a pair of everything-but-the-kitchen-sink style patchwork bloomers.
However, upon their completion I noticed that they failed to match anything I had. Why? They look too new.

I have had some success in the past with tea-dying fabric and clothing, but that only works on natural fibers. These bloomers consist of a wide variety of fabrics and fibers.

Is there any known process by which the illusion of age could be applied to a host of different fabrics at once? I have to work with wool, cotton, several different synthetics, lace, and ribbon trim, all in varying colours and weaves.

Any ideas?
