This is a little off-topic but I just saw The Wolfman yesterday and it was pretty good. That, along with Sherlock Holmes, had some excellent steampunky moments. Sherlock, I thought, was genius. The Wolfman was a good movie, visually amazing, with a fairly strong storyline. There were a few things I didn't get by the time it was done - random lines thrown out that didn't seem to fit with the story - but overall, I'll probably still buy it. : ) The coolest part was how the director basically made the moon like it's own character.
So, I apologize for being 'off-topic' but I thought you all might enjoy it. To make up for the over-sight (sp?), I will bravely post a couple pics of my first piece fo Steampunk jewelry.
I made the necklace and earrings.. hard to see here.
The raw citrines had holes drilled in the top so I used a thin wire to do wire wrappings around the gears, which I got from the scrapping store. They were sewn to the light brown ribbon which was sewn to the dark brown ribbon which was sewn to a flat woven cord that was about 3/4" wide. I used a magnetic flat clasp on the back that was for children's overalls. I also mixed silver, copper and gold (all with the tarnished effect) for the metal. :) I created a crochet pattern to make brown fingerless gloves too.
