How to build a backpack time machine

This was the starting point - a Craftsman My First engine kit. I saw a post on here and totally agreed that this is the new Nerf Maverick for those who don't want to make a gun.

Here is a badly-washed-out shot after the first coats of paint

Now with added brass and copper bits!

Still to add are a pressure gauge to the "air filter" attachment in the lower right, and a "clock" (for the moment a pic cut from a catalogue and set in a bras-ainted frame) which will go in that round place in the middle. Someday the crank-and-gear assembly may be motorized but I have less than a month before Windycon.

(And BTW - Windycon panelists should be getting your schedules this week, at least according to the head of Programming)

It will sit on a backpack/belt rig cut from leathers I've had in my stash for a while. I also have a raygun in progress (modded from a dolalr-store toy and a brass garden-hose sprayer) which will be holstered on the belt.
