I've been browsing this community for months, and posting replies for a few days now, so I figured I may as well introduce myself.
These photos are poor quality, but show the base for a matching set of steampunk outfits I put together for my husband and I. Everything pictured except the choker is from the thrift store or "junk" jewelry box.
The choker was made out of copper wire, ribbon and lace (added after this photo), and
what used to be a wooden placemat. I didn't realize it until just now, but if you look in the photo you can still see the excess copper wire from the back of the choker. I had finished the beading process just a few minutes prior to taking this photo, I think.
Overall, the quality of the outfit is rather poor compared to most of the outfits I see here, but it is the only one of which I have photos.
By way of apology for the poor and incomplete outfit, I bring you something else that may be of interest.
"I'm packing up a last few items I'd like to take with me to Seattle. Among them is a miniature tea set I've had for as long as I remember. It's a little dirty, so I go clean it off under some running water, and when I flip it over while drying it I see the stamp on the bottom says, "Made in Occupied Japan.'"
That was in October. I took photos that night, but I'm just now getting around to uploading the photos I took back then. They're poor quality, but my webcam was all I had. I'd like to note that this tea set did not come with me, as I was not able to pack it well enough to convince myself it would not be damaged in shipping or on the flight.
