British Aerial Gunboat

The following images are being posted at the request of a member. They have nothing directly to do with fashion but the overall subject matter may be of interest.

In my last post with regarding my “Victorian Breathing Apparatus” I mentioned in passing the model of a British aerial gunboat that I had made. Here are some images of the finished model

I based my model on the HMS Aphid from Space: 1889 though I scaled the vessel the model up to represent a larger vessel. I also modified the ship to more closely represent a Victorian-era British warship.

Since the vessel was larger that the original Aphid I had the create my own class of ship - the Nile Class - named after the British campaigns on the Nile and the Sudan. My ship is the HMS Abu Klea named after the battle during the Gordon Relief Expedition of 1885.

The model is about 32 inches long and is in scale with 28mm war game/role playing figures a few which can be manning the ship. It is completely built from scratch as is the case and graphics.
