No casual entry?

I have been told that the San Jose SteamFaire this weekend will not have any day passes nor any registration at the door.  In fact, I hear it is "sold out" and weekend pre-reg only.  I had plans to go over the weekend days in regalia.  I have been to dozens of conventions about a bunch of varied subjects - and never seen something like this lack of day-of registration.

Kind of puts a huge problem in dressing up and going to the convention to meet others who enjoy the Steampunk culture if it has such a huge restriction...

Can someone shed some light on this subject, please?
