didn't so much as vanquish my fear of heights last night, but~!! i did conquer them for the moment.
such a fantastic day yesterday turned out to be!!! to start, i got a jumping hug from a friend of mine outside the union giving out "Free Hugs!" then, the day progressed. had a fantastically long phone conversation that really helped me sort through some things, and just getting closer to old friends (the best kind of friends, too). then! played some WoW with the people i started playing that game with. that was incredibly good. followed by heading out to hang with some people till 5am in the freaking morning. collapsed on the floor, woke up and we went for dinner at Pat's (cost me a grand total of $3.21, i payed $5.01). walking back to my dorm, found a cell phone sleeping on the grass face down. called a few numbers in it, got a call back from one guy and explained this wasn't who he thought it was, it was me!!! got the phone back to the guy, who apparently had an equally fantastic night. run up to my computer and find an e-mail to call someone who i haven't spoken to in years (what the fuck is up with that...years, it seems so frivolous that time passes by so slowly on a small scale, but the years are gone in a flash....where's the consistency time? HA!).
so the heights bit. there's the bridge that the train goes over in Orono. walking with some people out there (i'm sufficiently inebriated), only to then have it dawn on me what the fuck we're walking on: train tracks. and where it leads: bridge....but a bridge that has train tracks, death, and metal. i had a bit of a freak out moment (for i am completely and utterly afraid of heights...oh vertigo, what a good Hitchcock movie), but!! oh but, i made it across. thank you friends for being so accommodating and helping me inch along the whole way. there were feet sized holes in-between the bars you had to walk on, and i was thinking "what if the train comes? do i jump into the river and hope to survive?" though, i was placing those worries in the back of my mind as i was trudging along at a trot (oooh!!! i'm not crawling, i'm trotting!!). the toughest part, unfortunately, was the end. the tracks to walk on got incredibly small. there was about 2 feet of bar to walk across with the tracks to my right and the jump into the rocky river to my left. but i made it!! and then i ran into karl biking along, which was equally as exciting!
but yes, such days, suck lives, such fun!!
