“There’s none quite so zealous as a convert,” murmured Lester as they said their goodbyes and exited the restaurant.
“You don’t say?” replied Ryan.
“That bad?” Lester felt his stomach give a lurch. He’d given up red meat but both he and Ryan had ordered steak in the face of extreme provocation. Indigestion was just waiting to pounce. Chris and Sam had been friends since Oxford but their recent conversion to veganism was proving tiresome.
“Meat is murder,” parroted Ryan and grinned. “We’ll make it up to them with a vegetarian supper invitation.”
Lester grinned back. “They’re certainly herby bores.”
