The cake was turning a delicious golden colour. Jess eyed it with satisfaction and imagined how lovely it would look when iced and how rich and satisfying it would taste. There would be two types of frosting and a sprinkling of gold flakes for that final touch of luxury. Cooking was so very satisfying.
In the background a timer pinged.
Jess ran and collected plates and accoutrements. Then she grabbed her meal from the microwave and ran back to her place on the sofa.
These television cooking competitions were the best. And she didn’t want to miss a single minute.
