Connor’s face fell and he looked down at the cardboard circle covering his chest. “It’s a pear tree. Can’t you tell by the fruit?”
“Looks more like a pepperoni pizza,” observed Ryan. “What were you planning on doing about the partridge?”
“I was going to take Sid.”
“That will go down well. Lester will love having his furnishings chewed by your prehistoric pet.”
“Oh. What’re you going as?”
“Your perfect partner. Naturally.”
Connor perked up. “So you’ll be the partridge?”
“No.” Ryan grinned. “The garlic bread.”
