The clock was striking midnight as Jess ran from the ballroom. At some point she’d lost her shoes, her dress was a wine-stained ruin, her purse was missing and her phone was out of charge. Her pre-booked taxi had vanished leaving only the darkened, empty streets and a frightened mouse which scurried away at her approach.
“Damn! She’d have to walk. She was never going to another Hen Party.
“Jess.” A familiar voice called her name.
“Becker!” She ran into his arms. “My Prince Charming.”
He grinned as he wrapped his coat over her shoulders. “More like your Fairy Godmother.”
