Connor’s spent most of last night photoshopping an image of Stephen in front of Victoria Falls. Stephen once said it was his favourite place and this way Connor can remember him happy.
He’s blu-tacking the picture inside his locker alongside Tom’s B7 badge when Nick arrives.
“When did Stephen give you that?”
He sounds almost angry. Connor peels the picture down.
“I don’t remember,” he hedges. “Have it if you want.”
“Thanks,” says Nick running gentle fingers over the image. “He loved those falls.”
“Yeah.”
It’s not really a lie, Connor tells himself. Or, if it is, it doesn’t matter.
