[Xander can be found inside the Battle Dome today. Observers might look in and see a dark, murky graveyard inside the simulator. Bare trees, tombs, crypts and stones provide a jagged landscape for the lone young man inside, who looks---afraid. He's got an axe on his back, a stake in each hand, and a big lump in his throat ( Read more... )

[And here's Derek, poking his way around the new place to figure it out and see what it can do. He's already armed to the teeth (hey, a little test drive never hurt anyone, right?) and approaching the terminal to try and figure it out.

That's when he notes one of the rooms is already in use. Curious, he goes to check it out, one eyebrow raised while he deciphers the readout. Someone else hunting vampires? Interesting...

And then he notes the other read outs. Whoever it is is having shit luck...really shit luck Derek notes when a warning light starts to go off.

Aw, crap.

And with this realization, he's quickly to the door of the room Xander is in, and through it, gun already aimed. Doesn't take him a split second to figure out who is who, and he aims a shot at Cordelia's head]

Hey, vampire.

[And he shoots, the bullet grazing Xander on the way by. The bullets are both silver and blessed, although he's not sure that would do any good. Other than, you know, pissing her off. Guess he'll find out.

Yeah, he's noted the other graves moving. What the hell did the kid program in?]

AH! WHAT! GOT IT HANDLED, OKAY? [No you don't Xander--and that was a very near miss with the bullet. His sleeve is torn now, arm grazed and bleeding very slightly.

Cordelia, meanwhile, is able to dodge the bullet--literally--and is now VERY pissed off at Derek. At least she's not paying attention to Xander anymore.]

Since when did 80s rock become cool again? [Vamp Cordelia crouches and begins to approach Derek, on the attack.]

[Of course you do, kid.

Derek doesn't say that out loud of course; his attention is as much on Cordelia as hers is on him. He's also crouched, much like her, watching her as she approaches. This is all going to be in the timing, and he knows it.]

Apparently about the same time your sense of fashion took a nose dive, lady.

[Vamp Cordelia is SO offended by this, Derek! Instead of retorting she leaps straight at you, teeth and claws ready to tear your skin off your bones! Xander at least as the presence of mind to yell a warning.]

LOOK OUT!

[No worries, Xander; this is exactly what Derek wanted Cordelia to do.

In one circular motion, he ducks, turns, and lets the motion swiftly turn him in a complete circle as he sidesteps the rush, his sword out and neatly poised to cleanly slice her head completely off, the move using her own momentum and direction against her.]

[And in that strike Cordelia loses her head and explodes in a cloud of dust. Xander sort of stands there blinking, which is foolish because there are other vamps closing in now.]

Wow. You kind of have your own slaying style, don't you.

[Derek had already been getting a stake ready to pound into her chest when she explodes into dust, and it makes him hesitate in surprise. That was way too easy.

Then he sees the other ones trying to bum rush them.

Aw hell...

Derek will quickly put himself between Xander and the nearest vamp. Xander gets pushed back towards the door, and the vamp gets a faceful of gun and silver bullets.]

Out! If this thing has voice control, use it! Shut it down!

[And then he's trying to dodge out of the way of another vampire.]

[That tone zaps Xander into instant obedience, as he runs for the door and fiddles with the controls on the console. Soon enough the scenario shuts down and the room grows dim and softly lit--empty.]

Got it!

[Derek stands up from where he'd been straddled across a vampire he'd been in the process of staking. After he brushes his pants off, he makes his way to Xander.]

Thanks.

...decided to check the place out, huh?

You could say that. Hey--thanks for shooting me in the arm, by the way. [It's BARELY shot, Xander, geez. Derek just winged you.]

Well, I could have got you in the shoulder, but there would have been even less of a chance of hitting her at that angle. Kinda sucks when they're using you as a shield.

[Yes, he really is that unruffled. He'll nod his head towards the wound though.]

If you hold still, I'll fix it for you.

Human shield: never my favorite role to play. [But he offers Derek the arm, interested in seeing what he's going to do with it.]

Not mine, either.

[Derek carefully takes Xanders arm in one of his own cold hands, lifting it up and covering it with his free hand. There's a few moments of warmth as the filial magic does its thing, and then he lets go. The wound is gone.]

[The pain vanishes!]

Whoa! That was kind of amazing, man. Can you do my neck too?

[Derek raises his eyebrow, but nods.

Note to self; the holograms leave real wounds.

Within a moment, the bite is gone too. Unfortunately, Derek can't replace any missing blood. Guess it's iron rich foods for you for a few days, Xander.]

[Xander rubs at his neck, which is still sticky with blood but otherwise normal.] Thank you. It was stupid of me to go in there alone. Normally I'm part of a team, when I do that. [Or when Buffy does it and he helps and tries to not get killed.]
