Party Planning

"I give up," Hino Rei said, annoyed to the point that her face was frozen in a cold, uncaring stare. "You girls can fend for yourself this year." The shrine maiden crossed her arms as she cast another firm gaze upon her surroundings. She had originally volunteered to arrange such dances and events such that she could occasionally perform, indulging herself in song from time to time. This holiday did not call for such a performance, and it irritated her that the bulk of work was always left to the most responsible one. "I hardly see why I should have to carry such weight upon my shoulders each and every year."

Clearly annoyed, the raven-haired girl stormed off. It was clear that few had forgiven the girl previously known as "Queen Rei-sama"...some still idolized her from afar, but far fewer than usual, and these were the ones who knew her least. Ralph had still not forgiven her. Vanya never would. Jessie still remembered how the two had often clashed during the time that Rei was...not herself. Still Rei, but a darker Rei, with the hidden fears and insecurities burning within her and pushing her to do things she never dreamt possible. It was her hope that helping out could help to restore her good name. But if no one would listen to her, much less cooperate...the priestess had little option but to wash her hands of the whole ordeal.

Behind her was an otherwise festive scene. The tall, leggy blonde sat crosslegged on the floor. The skull shirt was oddly fitting, though such hardcore attire was often worn by the rocker all year long. Jessie sat beside a stereo, screwdriver in hand, setting up and then fine-tuining all the audio equipment to make sure that the music would really rock. Meanwhile a bluebird flitted about, ribbons and streamers clasped in its beak as it flew to the highest points of the gym, hanging these decorations for all to see. Several other girls had dropped by this weekend before the big dance to lend a hand in the party preparations, and others still had passed by just to steal a sneak peek at what the gym-turned-dance-hall would look like for the St. Catherine's Annual Costume Ball.

((OOC: Forward-dated to just before the big dance. I'll probably start the Halloween thread on Monday, 10/27, such that we could post for the night of the party from then until 10/31.))
