Going to Berkeley as a traveler with just a backpack and a messanger bag and no real home to go to was something else. It was great staying with Caro, Laura/Bianca, and Teale, though I am terrible with being dependent on people. I guess that was one reason for this trip - to learn how to be on my own, but also to ask for help when necessary. I finally got my keys to my new apartment (which I still adore, all things aside) though paint fumes prevented me from thinking this was a place I could turn to.
Yesterday was just what I needed after a rather stressful week, though going to the gardens + movies with Caro was a plus to my week. I visited Teale at his office in the city and we had lunch, then I walked from Montgomory station to Golden Gate Park along Market and then Haight. Walking along Market I kept wondering why the hell I wanted to explore in the first place, maneuvering around homeless people and past strip clubs. But then Haight reminded me why I like San Francisco so much and I wandered around for hours, getting coffee at various cafes and taking a look at the view whenever possible. I walked all the way back to Civic Center to meet Teale and we went back to Golden Gate Park where we eventually found the de Young Museum. They have a party every Friday night so we strolled around listening to live music and staring at flashing lights.
It was so funny bumping into Stephanie at the airport today! It made me happy to see her and Sean reunited at last after one long semester abroad. I also caught up with Kerac for a little bit and it was good to see he came back alive. I met up with too many friends studying for the MCATs this week. I don't know how I feel about that. Fuck, I need to decide.
I move back up to Berkeley on Friday. Not much to do in LA except - you guessed it - more museums! Getty Villa on Monday, and I'll probably go to the Getty Center for a third time at some point. Hopefully hang out with some people. Pack. Hell, I didn't even unpack.
If you want to hang out, drop a line.
