I'm glad I waited until today to post this. As those who follow me on Twitter may know that I could not brain yesterday (I had the dumb), and I was really struggling with this chapter. I even locked myself (and husband, and dogs) out of the apartment because I am incredibly stupid and absent-minded sometimes. Anyway, after that debacle, I decided I should definitely sleep on this chapter and fix it today.
And I think it worked. I'm not 100% happy with it, but it's much better than I thought it would be. My issue is that this is the teasing chapter and even though I'm writing it, I don't like the teasing, either!!! I think it's good and necessary, but I'm about ready to write the "good stuff," and getting myself geared up to write this chapter was a challenge.
There were other issues, too. I had to try to find the balance between Kaname wanting to spend quality time with friends after so long away and wanting to spend naked times with Sousuke after waiting so damned long for them to come to their senses, rescue one another, and finally have some alone time. It would be a struggle for Kaname, so I tried to have that there, but keep it lighthearted and angst-free and (hopefully) sexy.
As for the sexy, I think it turned out okay, too. The last chapter with Sousuke's "inspection" was a little more obvious, but there is something about secret hand-holding that... mmm... does it for me. It's innocent, but those little touches when others don't know what's going on seem so clandestine and special. I also ramped it up with a little footsie and Sousuke getting bold with his wandering hand to really sell the purpose of the chapter. And that purpose is to work these two teenagers up into a frenzy that will (hopefully) be combustible next chapter.
