Literary question

I keep forgetting that Ron "Monkey Island" Gilbert is one of the fellows working on the upcoming Penny Arcade game. This is basically the equivalent of forgetting joy. I'm not sure if I should blame myself or the Penny Arcade boys. It is clearly something I should write on my hand so I can look at when I'm feeling down, though.

Down-ness segues nicely into my question, though. It is a very important question: Does George R. R. Martin ever express happiness?

Because, man, when depressed, you should totally go out and try to read, again, a book about corrupt politics, incestuous siblings, teenage girls who learn to love being sexually violated by much older men, small children being thrown off towers to be crippled for life, beloved pets of small girls being slaughtered, unhappy relationships, freezing winter loneliness, and misery, misery, misery. I don't think anyone's been happy for longer than three pages, and when they're happy for /that/ long, it probably means someone is going to come along and punch them in the face. With the corpse of their best friend.
