Feeling goooood.
Almost Friday. Friday I head into Johnson for the evening to catch up with Hilary and whoever else I see around, and then Saturday.
For the past few months I've been reclusing in my attic bedroom, enjoying the stability of it. It makes sense; I spent the previous year couchsurfing, sleeping in random bedrooms and even living in the woods for three months just for a job. When I finally got some space that was mine I moved all my stuff into it, arranged it just so, and then stayed there. Alone and content. There wasn't much outside socializing.
But now! After three-ish(?) months I'm beginning to edge away from the 'It's Mine And I'm Gonna Sit In It mentality'. On Saturday I have my first Burlington party to go to with people I found all on my own. Not a small party in the old college town I'm used to, a party in the new mini-city with people I met through Georgie! I'm-a party in the North End! Whoo! (North End= hippies, tattoos, face metal, purple houses, Party Bus and artsy types.)
The last time I went to a party in Burlington it was with Eric on Hump Day. I drank homemade beer on an iron back-alley fire escape and danced some sort of folkdance with a thirty-something Russian while various musicians played guitars, drums and a cello. After an ex-Tibentan Monk named Lo Choo approached and slurred that I was ver' preeddy.
It's a housewarming party! And while I can't remember who's house I'm supposed to be warming I know that two hundred people were invited and so far a good half might be showing up.
I haven't been to a huge party with no college kids in a looong time. This will be a good stretch for me.
