Mmm temp job. Third week here and I'm trying not to get too comfortable, but at least the pay's good. And oh, how fun are the fingerprint scanners?! They may possibly be the best part of this job. My fingerprint unlocks doors, just like you see in movies. Place fingertip on an electronic pad, wait for the green light and a *click*.
At first I tried to keep my Madison covered up, but then I GAVE up after a week when I realized that I would be paid eleven an hour to sit in a room, at a desk, by a window by myself and do data entry. Noooobody bothers me. I love it. Right now I've got a little Hendrix going to chase away the office silence.
But, the Madison. I've had her for two weeks (?) and she refuses to calm down. It seems like it's healing slower than it should be, even though it isn't, I'm just worried because the chance for rejection on one of these is so high. Still. I'm changing my aftercare routine. The shop reccomends Dial soap and a homemade saltwater mix, but so far... red. So I'm going to Softsoap and H2Ocean, what I usually do. (Thought I'd try out the shop's healing routine. She's not having it.)
You'd be surprised. Both soaps are basic, antibacterial and the same price, but the slight difference is... dyes. Dial has dye in it. Softsoap doesn't. And my super-sensitive piercing is getting irritated by this teeny amount of Yellow #4 or whatever. And the homemade saltwater mix? Our plumbing is old. I'm probably getting extra minerals (rust?) into the wound. H20cean comes pre-mixed and sterilized.
Damn pain in the ass.
Oh yeah, EXPLAINATION! :D A Madison is a surface piercing done on the chest, named after the first person (a porn star) to get one. When you Google-image it you'll probably get mostly a ring below the collarbone, which is NOT what I have. My variation is an inch-long surface barbell (looks like l___l), vertically placed above my cleavage. So I have an inch of metal under my skin with just the ends showing. Being a surface piercing, I have to keep a sharp eye on it because, if done incorrectly, bodies will try and force them out like a splinter. (But mine was done well. We'll see.)
Gross and fascinating. <3
But. Data entry awaits.
