Deryck’s cell phone started to ring as he left the hospital, he pulled it out of his pocket,
flipped it open and pressed to his ear.

“Yeah?” He said into it.

Adah giggled in his arms and tried to reach out for the phone. Deryck shook his head at her
while listening to the voice on the other end of the line.

“Milk and cocktail wieners?” A pause. “What do we need cocktail wieners for?” Another pause.
“Steve, ok. That explains everything. I’ll be back home in about half an hour then. Bye.”

He flipped his phone shut and put it back in his pocket. He adjusted Adah on his hip as he
unlocked his car with the simple press of a button. He went around to the passenger’s side and
put his daughter in her car seat before getting in the car himself.

The two of them spent a whole 10 minutes looking for cocktail wieners at the grocery store, all
the time Deryck was mumbling under his breath about Steve and his weird fascination with wieners.

Deryck gave up; on the way out to the car he bumped into a woman and knocked her groceries out
of her hands while nearly dropping Adah. The baby started to cry very loudly.

“Ssshh.” Deryck whispered to her and bounced her on his hip; it wasn’t working. It only seemed
to make her cry louder. Cone always knew how to soothe her.

He looked apologetically at the woman who was picking up her groceries, he bent down and tried
to help her as best as he could.

“I’m sorry about that, I should have looked where I was going.” He smiled at her apologetically.

The woman smiled at him and Deryck found she looked awfully familiar but he couldn’t place a
name to her face.

“It’s Ok, Deryck.” She obviously remembered him though; she stood back up with all her groceries
back in her arms. “Is Adah okay?”

Deryck stood back up as well and looked at his baby, “Yeah, she will be. I think it just scared
her.”

He was freaked out that she knew his Baby’s name but at the same time he felt the need to talk
to her.

“Well, I’m sure you’ve got to be somewhere.” She smiled at him before turning around and
beginning to walk out of the parking lot.

He jogged after her, careful not to jostle Adah or the milk too much, “Are you walking?”

She turned around and smiled at him shyly, “Yeah, my Brother crashed my car so I can’t use it.”
She told him.

“Do you want a ride?” He blurted out and then blushed slightly, what was he doing? He didn’t
like her; he didn’t even know her, she was just some stranger he had met at the store.

She nodded and followed Deryck as he led her back to his car.

“What’s your name?” Deryck asked as he got into the drivers seat after putting the groceries in
the trunk and Adah in her seat. “I can’t remember.”

“Jessica.” She told him ad then it all clicked.

Steve’s ex-girlfriend. Steve’s evil ex-girlfriend. She had changed but he wasn’t going to say
anything to her.

“Where do you live then?” He asked, shifting the conversation.

Jessica explained where she lived and they were there in a couple of minutes. Deryck helped her
bring her groceries inside and he then started to walk back to his car.

“Do you want some coffee?” Jessica called behind him and he turned around to look at her.

“I can’t it Adah’s birthday and we’re having a party…” He trailed off and looked at the floor
but then he brightened. “Why don’t you come?”

She had a shocked but pleased look on her face. She smirked inwardly.

“Sure, just give me a minute.” She ran back into the house to obviously get ready.

Deryck smiled to himself and got into his car. He looked at Adah asleep in her chair and
wondered if he was doing the right thing. He shook his head, of course he was. He had to get
over Cone sometime plus, Jessica had matured in these past couple of months.

He then thought of Jessica’s past actions. She had lied to Steve and he’d really cared about
her.

Steve. He wasn’t going to be happy about this.

A/N: Meh, really shite but Meh.
