Let's see how many exams I can talk about lesbians in!

The student office is about as useful as a soup sandwich and teachers tend to overestimate this, as I found today when I tried to track down Ms. Watson like she'd told me. x_x And of course it was the student office lady who doesn't recognize me by sight and so she thought I was Year 10. :| I was offended.

Novel: The Handmaid's Tale - Margaret Atwood
Preferred question: Analyze how ONE main character's attempts to solve a problem were important to the text as a whole.
Backup question: Analyze how ONE or MORE minor character(s)s helped you understand a main character.
About the question I ended up doing: Analyze how ONE character became more (OR less) admirable.
Talked about Moira, as usual, and managed to get in the MacGyver reference. (80s chick? Me?) Apart from really bashing the word "admirable" in the opening and closing sentences of paragraphs though I'm not sure I got my message across...

Poetry: "Knife Play" and "A Message" - Fleur Adcock
Preferred question: Identify some limitations of the genre/text type you studied AND analyze how your texts overcame these limitations.
Backup question: Bla bla bla techniques theme.
About the question I ended up doing: Symbols/important idea.
I think it's pretty clear from all my preferred questions that I really hate writing about themes. Ideas? The same thing. Doing themes in poetry was a little easier because we did love poetry and that is seriously the only thing I can write about (apparently I'm a hopeless romantic) but I'm still not convinced I had a point.

Film: The Crucible - Nicholas Hytner
Preferred question: Analyze how ONE main character's attempts to solve a problem were important to the text as a whole.
Backup question: Bla bla bla techniques/mood/atmosphere etc.
About the question I ended up doing: Bla bla bla techniques strongly negative mood.
Eh, it's film. Got in the obligatory "minor key which is traditionally associated with a negative feeling" reference and spouted rubbish on human nature.

Once again, hoping I walked away with Merits. High expectations, much?

Going to see Kawakubo Tamaki (a Japanese violinist) and...er...some random pianist whose name I've forgotten tomorrow! Yay for having friends at the embassies!

school: english, events: concerts, school: !exams
