So today was Year 12 Shakespeare day, a merry day of costuming, feasting, and a day off normal school. Not bad, yeah? And I got to start the day with trying to make Chris spike up my hair. This failed miserably, as my hair is apparently too long for the task (pffft, Raymond's hair is as long as my fringe and his hair still stands up) and my hairgel is, I suspect, from when I was twelve and had a Josie (and the Pussycats) haircut. Actually, the resulting attempt to slick my hair back also failed as my fringe is incredibly persistent, but Talia declared I looked like a boy from the front anyway. Brittany said I looked like Peter Pan.
The morning was the performances, which were brilliant, and totally worth pissing off Ms. Reilly to see (she was trying to send us somewhere else to perform, which was totally unfair, as that would have been to an audience of, like, six-odd, when everyone else had had a roomful). Probably the highlight for me was the 1920s mafia Hamlet, which was brilliant.
Our Titus scene got an M, despite us somewhat confusing ourselves by reversing all previous staging I'd blocked, and Talia completely forgetting her last two spiels. :look (Oh, there I go again. I'm thinking I should just upload them to my Photobucket and use them.)
Left to right: Me as young Lucius, Regina as Lavinia, Essen as Marcus Andronicus, and Talia as Titus Andronicus. Thanks, costume place!

And then lunchtime was a banquet contest. Our table was beautiful (by which I mean "disturbing and gruesome") and totally should have won. Sadly I have no photos of it because I am an idiot, and am too shy to tell people to move so I can take photos. Oh, and there was also a costume contest in which Adilya was a little skux (we didn't win this either...but neither did Adilya's group, which wasn't cool because they had the most impressive catwalk) and
the ESOL class did a ye olde dance. :D
In the afternoon, we had to go on a scavenger hunt with clues written in Shakespearean to get our marks back for our performances. This was Not Fun, especially as it was cold and my (combat) boots were not made for walking. In the end we walked to Circa Theatre and back, with a few mistakes along the way (aka Plimmer's Ark and Frank Kitt's Park). However, we did get to go past the Coll boys mucking around outside Stage Challenge. Nick totally snobbed me.
Afterschool I totally made up for this boy craziness by hitting on Nicola and getting excited about Grace's free! The Brothers Grimm poster because "Lena Headey's in it, and she's hot."
Chris: "I didn't see that one coming."
Pretty good day, all in all, but my feet still hurt and I'm disappointed I didn't get to meet Nix's Bird Boy :P
On a random note, I'm a bit shocked
Sue Bradford is trying to lower the voting age to sixteen. I mean, yeah,
some sixteen-year-olds follow politics and would actually have an opinion to express... But then there's people who would just vote what their parents/friends vote, or vote for Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis or, like, Destiny Church for the hell of it... Scary.

Stranger - Hilary Duff:
I dunno, I find this video really rather hot. I think it's the Arabian Nights costumes/dancing. Though I must say, Hilary just looks inappropriately gangsta in that hoodie, and I really disapprove of that little sparkly dress.

Because of You - Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson, live at the American Country Music Awards:
Reba and Kelly recorded this song together for Reba McEntire's new duets album. I like this :) (...and how hot is Kelly's dress? I'd want a balldress like that, but I have too much cleavage.)

Since U Been Gone - Kelly Clarkson featuring Reba McEntire, live on CMT Crossroads:
Reba's dancing amuses me in a trainwreck kind of way - as much as I want to look away, I can't. Also, listen to Kelly at the start, yeah? "Wasn't long till I called her mine." Random. Anyway, I'm impressed - Since U Been Gone always struck me as a really hard song to do live, and it rocks.

Girlfriend (Dr. Luke remix) - Avril Lavigne featuring Lil' Mama:
I like this song to start with (yeah, guilty pleasure music).
I like remixes.
I hate rap.
But somehow, this seems to work for me.

the final dance scene of Center Stage:
Okay, so I only found out about this because of AfterEllen.com. (Wait, that applies to every video here except the Hilary Duff one. That was Brendan's fault.) But it's still fricking awesome!!
In other news, I think I'm just going to flag school!music performance. Like, for all time. By which I obviously mean until the end of seventh form.
