What Do You Have To Say? - My Sixth Grade Jam

Wow, this is certainly going to date me a little bit. The song wasn't brand new when I was in 6th grade, but it was still immensely popular, and I still find it amusing to this day. What song is it, then? Sir Mix-a-lot's "Baby Got Back". I still find that when it comes on the radio, I know most of the words without having to think about them. I must have listened to it to the point of self-induced brainwashing. I've always enjoyed listening to several genres of music, but I went through phases during my school years in which I only listened to one particular type. During elementary school, it was generally considered "cool" to listen to the Top 40 station, so for some reason I jumped on that bandwagon. Then middle school brought me to alternative rock. High school added metal to the list. Now, I guess I'm still considered a college student, because I still take a class now and then. My musical tastes are pretty much any type of rock produced after 1970 (although some of the older stuff is pretty cool), with a touch of rap and a teensy bit of country. So...I guess the answer to the second part of the question above would be that it makes me think about my musical development. Being a former band geek gave me a heightened sense of appreciation for the technical difficulty of the music I'm listening to, which actually made more music enjoyable to me than before I learned how hard it can be to play it.
