Dear Universities and Colleges of the World,
i have a bone to pick with you.
even though i haven't graduated from an institution yet, i am fairly certain that when i do, i will not have been offered a course i so desperately need, a course so many of us in our early/pushing mid-twenties need. it's called Life 101. what is Life 101, you may ask? well, i'm pretty sure that it doesn't exist yet. let me take you on a tour of what Life 101 would offer:
A. how to fill out taxes properly.
B. how to rent/buy an apartment.
C. how to get a job that doesn't involve standing for 8 hours.
D. how to build credit.
E. how to survive a recession.
F. how to gain a purpose.
G. how to change your car's oil.
H. how to buy that car.
I. understanding of insurance.
J. how to find a future husband/wife/life-partner that won't screw you over.
K. a lot more.
now sure, i can learn all of these things from outside sources/my parents/Wikipedia, but from my understanding, college is supposed to prepare you for the real world. i strongly doubt that courses like statistics or Elizabethan poetry will help with any of the above.
my point is this: if we're paying all of this money to provide ourselves with an education that should indeed prepare us for the next step in our lives, the most confusing and frustrating one might i add, you should do so. offer Life 101. and give me the rights. i need money.
Sincerely,
A very frustrated person trying to move out of their parent's house with a low paying job but can't quite get there because neither her nor her friends know the materials they need to bring to a leasing office so now their credit can't be checked until Friday and that really sucks because they need to get out of their current living situations RIGHTFUCKINGNOW.
