mayhaps updating my blog was MEANT to be done monthly rather thain daily or weekly.
or mayhaps i'm just lazy.
either way, this post is overdue.
i'm officially 24 now. gahhdamn, it came quickly.
so far though, my golden year has been brilliant and, even though i expected a lot from this year, it's far surpassed my expectations. and i still have half the year to go<3
i spent my actual birthday with the ones i love most in the world (with the exception to a seester who was working and an ate who is half the world away). i ushered in the 24th watching "let's go dream team!" (aka minho flying airplanes in a pilot's uniform and running thru waterfalls...what??) and having a tweetchat with my love, noelani. woke up late, spent some time waking up and reading the 1698435489616845549681 happy birthday texts that i got from everyone and their mom. went shopping, ended up getting stuff for my baby camryn and nothing for myself. had lunch, and putzed around the house. went to our annual traditional japanese dinner with nay and ate way more ootoro than i should have, and generally had a good time talking with my grandma...it's an occasion in and of itself :) hurried home and changed, then rushed off to spend the rest of the evening doing what i love most...working out in a garage full of women in pa'u skirts <3
hmm...other than celebrating my birthday, what else have i been doing?
oh yes...seeing the wonder girls AND one day.
it was amaaaazing. that's all there really is to say about it. in short, i found out the following things: 1)nichkhun is even more princely in person. he's disgustingly handsome, and not nearly as small in stature as one might gather from looking at pictures. 2)wooyoung's english skills, although rough, are still the most prection thing evaaaaar. 3) yubin is a goddess. that one's self explainitory. 4)2AM put on a better show than 2PM. surpriiiiiise~ it's true. 5)jinwoon is a giant maknae. he's rather intimidating when you see him up close. to me, it seems like he's even bigger than seulong. and last but not least 6)jokwon is too good to be true. he's not as small as he seems in pictures and on shows, his face is clean and fresh looking, and his kkap is even better in person. his hip-swaying and arrogant face are a force to be wreckoned with!
i've also found that i've grown much more comfortable with myself. i guess it comes with age, because i realize now that i'm alright with people not liking me, being mad at me or talking crap behind my back. it used to bother me for days on end if i thought that i'd upset someone, but now i realize that i can wake up the next day and go one with my life. i really like that feeling.
lets see, what else??...
hula has been consuming my life (more than ususal) lately. spent every night last week (save for thursday, which was spent with bestie in SF going to see WG/2AM). i've learned the hard way that one should NOT do two tahitian performances two days in a row. the consequences are hard on the hips and knees. and though i get next week off, i know that we're going to be working just as hard when we get back because we've got one performance a week in august. and then two weddings in september. can i just ask...what is the huge facination with hula dancers, and why must every occasion become reason for a luau?!
speaking of luaus, my little camryn just celebrated her second birthday...and her grandparents flew to the islands to celebrate with her. they went to a luau, and cammy got to wear her first pa'u skirt just for the occasion. she's adorable beyond words in her hula outfit, and i can only hope that she develops a deep love for hula. her name is camryn OKELANI afer all...it's only right that she keep a little bit of aloha with her all the time!
grace, tony and camryn were set to come to california and spend some time here in august, but it looks like tony is going to be gone for two months, and thusly miss out on family vacay :( but it seems like grace and camryn are still going to fly up and visit. soooo...it looks like i've got myself a date with my best friend, my favorite girl and the wiggles. that's right...the wiggles. the whole point of this trip is to take camm to see the wiggles on their last concert tour...which unfortunately for the state of hawai'i, does not include them.
i'd like to say that it seems silly to fly all the way to the mainland to see four men in primary colored shirts who sing and dance for little ones...i can't really complain because it means grace and cammy will be here, and it guarantees me some time with two of my favorite people in the world. i am determined to see camryn at least once a year. <3
well, i guess that there are a lot of other things that i could write about...the trans-am being completed and back home for the first time in over a year...my brother's voice changing...but i have to save some things for just myself, right?
