I was recently invited by my friend to go to The Melting Pot for their Doll Up - Girls Night Out event. When I think of dolled up, I think vintage/retro. Not having either of those things in my wardrobe, I bought an adorable dress (Pull Up A Cherry) from Modcloth. I also bought a top (Nautical Navigator), and a pair of kitty heels. I don't buy clothes for myself often so I thought it would be ok to splurge.
I got the dress yesterday and I thought I'd whip up a cute accessory with matching print, so I sewed a tote bag. I'm going to add a snap so the bag can close. I don't want anything spilling out of it. I'm also going to add my initial in the middle.
My Sailor Moon cosplay is going to be finished next week. I would have loved to finish it earlier, but it has been very hot out and I don't have air conditoning yet. Next week, central air is going to be installed. The sewing room gets extremely warm and it's uncomfortable. I took advantage of the slightly cooler weather last night and made the tote.
After I wrap up my cosplay, I'm going to work on a 1940's peplum blouse and a pair of sailor shorts. Then I'm going to make a complete 18th century ensemble. A chemise, pocket hoops (also called panniers), 18th century stays (stays = a type of corset), and then finally, a robe a la anglaise. I'm also making a WWE tote for
paperwiings since she loves wrestling so much. I'll give it to you when I see you next month!
On an unrelated note, I am taking my five hour pre-licensing class next week and will be starting driving lessons shortly after that. It's a package of five lessons and the road test. I'm looking forward to driving. Other drivers scare me, but I would love to get out of the house with Oliver a bit more and socialize him with other children. Also, if he needs to go to the pediatrician, then I can just take him., He had roseola recently and getting him to the doctor was a pain.
Oh! Oliver says dada now. I don't know how to embed, so here's a link:
