Happy Violinversary!

Yep, it's been a year since I started the violin. After three months of learning the last Bach minuet in my book, I am done with them. There's only two songs left to go in the book and then I can start the second one. I am super excited about that because there's a Paganini piece! For those who don't know, I love him so much. He was a violin virtuoso and also a composer. His best known works are his 24 caprices for the violin. It's a little funny because they are etudes and a study in exercises, yet it became this amazing and wonderful thing in the violin world.

I still have a long, long ways to go before I'll be decent. That said, it's a really awesome instrument and I've been wanting to play it since I was a child. I highly suggest learning an instrument as an adult if you have the time and money. It helps improve memory, coordination, helps with focusing, releases stress, and most of all: it is FUN!

I'm also moving on from three note slurs to four notes in a two octave scale and three octave arpeggios. After a few weeks of doing the exercises, my teacher makes me play with my eyes closed, I think it's supposed to help muscle memory.
