So, originally I was going to post my reaction to this ep on Tuesday night and I thought I'd take a couple of caps and maybe make a GIF. But then once I started I just didn't stop...haha so now I have a picpsam.
90% of this was done quickly on Tuesday night, I've just been too busy to post it until now. Alas.
This was definitely my favorite ep this season. And not just because of my terrible bias.
Charlie: ...and it's uh, it's over. Everything starts to go dark and I'm slipping into the abyss and then I see her.
Desmond: Her?
Charlie: A woman. Blonde. Rapturously beautiful. And I know her. We're together. It's like...we've always been and...always will be. This...feeling. This...love. And just as I'm about to be engulfed by it I open my eyes and this sodding idiot is standing there asking if I'm ok. But I saw it. Just for a moment I saw what it looked like.
Desmond: Well, that's just...poetry brotha.
I didn't make this so it's weird to stick it randomly in the middle of my picspam but OMG THIS VID OF CHARLIE'S SPEECH JUST DOES THINGS TO MY HEART!
OH CHARLIE/CLAIRE! ♥
I used to be obsessed with them. They're definitely my Lost OTP along with Desmond/Penny.
I doubt it will happen but...I would give anything for them to actually meet in the AU. Even if it's only briefly.
Also, Sun needs to give Claire Charlie's Driveshaft ring! And did she even get his letter?
They just ended up way more tragic than anyone could have expected. He's dead, she's psychotic, and Kate raised Aaron. HOW DID THAT EVEN HAPPEN?! sob cute little blonde family!
AH THIS WAS SO CHILLING! The AUs are bleeding together somehow.
Apparently glimpses to the other side can be caused by experiencing something really emotionally intense and/or a large electromagnetic force?
And this is where the jears came...
Charlie: You felt it, didn't you?
Desmond: I didn't feel anything.
Charlie: Uh-huh. Then why are you accosting a man in a dressing gown?
LOLZ FOREVER!
I gotta say I'm not sure I understood Charlie's tactics. I can somewhat understand Daniel taking a leap to assume that Desmond might be experiencing the same thing as him, but why would Charlie think that? That seems like a pretty big risk.

My squeal at seeing him playing piano in the background was a tad embarrassing.
Daniel: Mr. Hume? My name is Daniel. Daniel Widmore. We need to talk.
lol @ the fedora. I love that he's still rocking the skinny tie.
Daniel: Do you believe in love at first sight?
Desmond: Excuse me?
He wasn't coming onto you, Des, alas!
He just wants to pimp his sister out.
OH HIS HAND ON HIS HEART!
It kind of feels odd to me that they're portraying Dan/Charlotte as this epic love.
Or maybe they're not? Maybe just feeling something that strongly is enough?
OH HOW I MISSED THIS!
I miss his diary. I miss him explaining all the crazyness in his own clear but twitchy manner.
I wish Daniel had admitted that he randomly wrote "DESMOND HUME IS MY CONSTANT" all over his diary without knowing why.
Desmond: I don't know where she is. I don't even know if she exists! She is...she is an idea.
Daniel: No, Mr. Hume. She's my half-sister. And I can tell you exactly where and when you can find her.
FINALLY! I had been waiting so long for the show to actually acknowledge that Daniel/Penny are siblings.
...Is it too much to ask for them to have a scene together? Yes? sigh, ok. :(
AW I LOVE DANIEL'S LITTLE SMILE HERE! He ships Penny/Desmond already.
He knows he's meant to be Desmond's actual brotha'.
HE FOUND HIS CONSTANT AND GOT TRANSPORTED BACK!
I usually don't believe in soul mates and I definitely don't believe in love at first sight. But gosh, this show makes it work with these two.

1. Daniel
2. Desmond
3. Charlie
*HUGE GIGANTIC GAP*
4. Everyone else (lol specifically like this if anyone cares. I STILL LOVE YOU BEN/RICHARD/JULIET)
But what I'm saying is that 90% of my emotional attachment to this show was wrapped up in this 1 episode. Oh the hilarity.
Widmore: You are aware that my son is a musician.
Desmond: Yes. I've heard he's quite talented.
Widmore: Yea, he is. Quite. Anyway, my wife is putting together one of her charity events and the boy had the crazy idea to combine classical music with modern rock. Have you heard of a band called Driveshaft?
HAHAHA OMG! CHARLIE AND DANIEL IN A BAND TOGETHER IS MY ULTIMATE LOST CRACK DREAM! Keyword "crack" though. HOW DID THEY KNOW?! I mention that shit in jest all the time. I can't believe they actually went there.
AND ESPECIALLY WENT THERE AND DIDN'T EVEN SHOW IT! FUUUUU SHOW! I need to make one of those rage toons about this situation.
From my initial reaction entry to "The Variable" from last year (April 29, 2009):
+ AND UM IF THEY MAKE THE PLANE CRASH NOT HAPPEN CAN CHARLIE COME BACK TOO ALONG WITH DANIEL? AND CAN THEY BE BFF AND START A NEW ADORKABLE BAND TOGETHER WHERE DANIEL PLAYS THE PIANO AND CHARLIE PLAYS THE GUITAR? IT WOULD BE SO EPIC!
OH their friendship would be so adorable. They could have their own sitcom. IT WOULD BE LIKE THE ODD COUPLE ONLY MORE DORKY AND WITH MUSIC!
Their music can represent their personalities/relationship, Dan is more classical and Charlie's more rock n' roll. Except when you put them together it randomly sounds amazing and comes from the same ~sensitive~ place. LOLOLOL OMG
They can put it on after the Sawyer/Miles buddy cop show.
And what is up with this fuckery:
Does Desmond just have it all figured out now? Maybe he knows more about his "gift", but that's all scientific stuff...and now Sayid is bringing him to Smokey? How will it relate?
It's like the sci-fi time travely part of the show meeting the epic fantasy part of the show.
And I guess Des is going to try and get everyone to remember their island life? And somehow that might merge the two?
This is really the first time the AU actually meant something beyond "lol oh look *insert Lost character* ran into Hurley in the food court of the mall!"
