o1. Ah! I have been horrible at LJ this past week! I apologize. My excuse is that I worked a bit longer hours (which is good for money) and....ok TBH, it's 97% this guy's fault:
2. Oh, that sucks about your brother. I feel like holidays are one thing my sister and I do at least get right. We're crappy daughters in other ways, but we show up for those!
I'm pretty sure Eric is my favorite vampire. I mean, I'm not that much of a Spike person and certainly it's not going to be EDWARD. Angel's good and all, but ERIC. MMMM.
AWESOME PICSPAM. Yes, you must do many more!
I love Bill's "WTF?" face and Eric's smirk in the last cap. ha!
Hahah, yes. Bill's all "Huh?" And Eric's just like, "Yeah, that's right."
Ok first of all, how childish are these book covers?!
Have you seen the cover of the last one in person? It's SPARKLY! I LOVE IT.
I'm guessing Sookie was thinking of the latter which is why she uninvited both Bill and Eric from her house at the end. I was pretty proud of her there.
YES. I think that's one of the (many) Sookie > Bella moments. We get to see Sookie taking control of her life! Bella was always way too "But why is this perfect, amazing, handsome vampire in love with little old me?" to do anything like that.
But, yeah, that's why I didn't want to say book 4 was my favorite. I mean, I LIKE it, and it gave us Sookie/Eric, which couldn't really happen with the "real" Eric at this point . . . but that's exactly it. It's NOT the real Eric. Anyway, it gives more layers to the relationship, which is always a good thing. I loooove that Sookie remembers and Eric doesn't!
Bill's all "Huh?" And Eric's just like, "Yeah, that's right." LMAO THIS KIND OF DESCRIBES THEIR CHARACTERS IN THE ENTIRE BOOK SERIES PERFECTLY!
I have! I do kind of love the Sparkle! And the cloak covering Bill and Sookie is sparkly too in the hardcover version of Book 1! lol maybe they're trying to get the Twilight tweens to read them even more by making the books ~sparkle~! That's so evil. I can only imagine all the questions that the 12 year olds will have. "MOMMY, WHY WAS SOOKIE'S BACK WET AFTER SHE DRANK ERIC'S BLOOD? I DON'T UNDERSTAND? AND WHERE WAS HIS FINGER BEFORE THAT? WAS HE HOLDING HER HAND?" *facepalm* Seriously, I would bet any amount of money that some little girl bought one of these books without knowing. There's just no way that didn't happen with this kind of marketing.
Yea, Bella has some serious self esteem issues. And at least Sookie doesn't go on and on about how hot Bill and Eric are...although she actually is starting to. I don't know if she's a hornier person after sleeping with Eric or what, but now I feel like whenever she's with any guy she makes some comment about wanting to do him. And I'm starting to be like "...ok are you a 16 year old boy, Sookie?" I was highly amused by the in depth description of how nice Eric's ass is though. lol
It's true, Eric/Sookie really couldn't have happened in the regular way in book 4. That is the one thing about it that made a bit of sense. There was a really good reason why she wanted to stay away from all vamps/men at the end of book 3. It would be impossible for anyone to just get over what happened with Bill. But I guess I just think that Harris went too far with "changing" Eric. It's like she had to turn him into "Bill"(or I guess TV!Bill because book 4!Eric was still better than book!Bill, ha) to make Eric/Sookie happen. I think if they ever do this storyline on the show I wouldn't mind it, but I would want them to tone down the Eric-is-only-ok-when-he's-like-Bill thing. I really don't know why CH didn't keep his personality the same. It's not like he was a complete asshole to Sookie prior to book 4. He was actually there for her more than anyone else was crude remarks and all.
Yeah, I think that really IS irresponsible marketing. I mean, as far as romance books go, they're not that dirty, but FOR THE TWILIGHT CROWD??? NO. I would've been SO traumatized!
Haha, you're right about Sookie and the guys! Bill was the first guy she ever slept with, and now they're ALL hot to her! Especially Eric. ;)
Yeah, of course the fandom has been longing for book 4 on the TV show, but, really, it would be hard to do an entire season of Eric not knowing who he was if he acted like he did in the book. I do hope they're able to translate it somehow, though.
And you still have lots of awesome Eric/Sookie ahead of you!
I feel like the little sex there is in the book seems weird to me because I never read romance novels. So the only sex I really read is in fanfic, lol.
I do wonder how they're going to translate the later books into the show since there's just so many of them. I mean, there's not going to be 10 seasons of True Blood! They'll probably be 5 or 6 if the ratings are good (judging by how long other successful HBO shows have lasted). They're going to have to start being picky about what they put in there.
Really, that would probably work out best. I mean, they're already going to have to make up a lot of stuff for Bill if they go along with even the mid-series books. Which they're doing for the other characters, but if they want to keep the Sookie/Bill (lol, I just typed Sookie/Eric from habit!) romance AT ALL they'd have to get even further away from the books.
And at least Sookie doesn't go on and on about how hot Bill and Eric are...although she actually is starting to. I don't know if she's a hornier person after sleeping with Eric or what, but now I feel like whenever she's with any guy she makes some comment about wanting to do him. I rationalize this to myself by remembering that Sookie not only didn't lose her virginity until 25, she skipped the fumbling, groping, not-so-good experience that it often the first time and jumped straight into the hot supernatural sex. Not only would that probably make anyone a bit rabid for seconds (and thirds and three hundred and fifths), but she has a lot of catching up to do.
I can only imagine all the questions that the 12 year olds will have. "MOMMY, WHY WAS SOOKIE'S BACK WET AFTER SHE DRANK ERIC'S BLOOD? I DON'T UNDERSTAND? AND WHERE WAS HIS FINGER BEFORE THAT? WAS HE HOLDING HER HAND?" *facepalm*
This! I took one of the books with me to the dentist's last week. My hygienist had heard of them, but hadn't read them and her pre-teen daughter is way into Twilight. She asked of they were appropriate for the kidlet, and I frantically waved her off of *that* idea. I informed her that the sex scenes were pretty explicit and...I think she's decided to pick them up for herself. :D
