Goose Bumps!
Joe and I usually watch American Idol, but never have we enjoyed a season quite as much as this season. There's a LOT of talent there this year. Does anyone else watch? I have a couple of guys at work that I discuss it with, but would love more opinion-exchange.
My favorite right now is David Cook. He can sing ANYTHING. The judges always encourage them to make the song "their own", and some of the competitors do, sometimes. But I've never seen a singer so consistently and successfully put his own spin on every song he sings. I thought I was sold when he did Chris Cornell's arrangement of Billie Jean last week. But then we had "Dolly Parton" week. What rocker guy could do well singing a Dolly song? David Cook, that's who. Check it out:
The way he sings that song gives me chills so bad they hurt. And did you see Dolly *squee*?? She loved him, too. I just bought all the "studio" versions of his performances from iTunes. iTunes excludes the AI downloads from their "top downloads" ratings so as not to influence the contest. But I *KNOW* he's got to be number one. I hope they publish those stats after he wins in a couple months. *snicker*
