It snowed more than usual here today and my company's policy is that basically none of us are supposed to take any road risks to get to work on days like today

I would've thought it snowed a ton in Portland. And your description of Portlanders made me laugh. I don't have a Prius but, by golly, I do drink fair trade coffee (and eat fair trade choc)!! haha
It doesn't snow often, so when it does it wreaks a little havoc sometimes. Today was one of those days where my gut instinct said "Don't even think to try to drive to work." :)
You are soooo not a wimp. I don't drive in snow even though my little car is fab in it. I hate it. I know what to do but the roads are rarely gritted, too many people drive too fast in it and I can't be certain if they have insurance.
I was more worried about the I-5 stretch from Tualatin to one of the exits for OPB. When it was my normal time to leave the snow was still coming down and the roads were totally covered. The last time I came in on a day like today it was a nightmare and I kinda wanted to be one less car contributing to the problem.
Glad I wasn't alone in that! Is it just me or does the traffic seriously just become dangerous as hell here when it snows due to so many people not having skills to handle it?
The entire 3rd floor pulled the Portland card. Most people on the road this morning that I saw were handling things OK. But I think part of that was the city actually put down some salt/sand.
