Since early July, there have been several foraging trips to pick wild blueberries, with varying combinations of
fernling,
ceelove and a 3-year-old girl who apparently enjoys them best when they go straight from the bush to her mouth.
We went again on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon, and picked and picked and picked until our backs ached and we'd completely run out of things to carry berries in. It was some kind of berry paradise, since there were black raspberries and huckleberries growing in the same spot, and we gorged on them all. After we got home and the berries were consolidated, I was astonished to realize that we had brought home a GALLON of wild blueberries. That's approximately 4x as many blueberries as I've ever gathered from wild bushes anywhere. Oh, what to do?
If that looks delicious to you (I assure you, it is exploding with blueberry goodness - cultivated and store-bought blueberries have nothing on these gems), you should consider bidding on
entrope's Blueberry Pie at
pastrypleasures. Or my Mulberry and Wild Blueberry Spice Cake. Yes, it's an online bake sale in lj-land, with all proceeds going to a friend in present need.
If you haven't already checked it out or bid, here's your reminder: bidding closes tomorrow!
