Before I freak out again and shave my head (seriously), I feel obligated to chronicle my Bostonina Spektor journey that took place in the very recent past. How recent? Yesterday, that's how recent. For those unaware of what the hell Bostina Spektor means...it is the fusion of both the city of Boston and the musicianship of Regina Spektor, because I -like all of America nowadays- need need need to shorten words and phrases to save my precious breath and energy.
Why am I so sassy right now? Anyway, Anna and I took the train to Boston yesterday for some much needed city fun. It was terrific, though we could have done without the incessantly chilly wind and the obnoxious guy who was under the impression that the concert was a sing-a-long meant to showcase his spot-on Regina caliber singing while using Anna's ear as a microphone (figuratively). He was asked to shut up many times...he did no such thing. Besides the fact that we had to wait over two excruciating hours past the 7:00 starting time (not counting the good hour we spent outside, freezing, in a line of fools), she was great! No, again, I'm serious: the show was really good. Regina Spektor has the ability to make all pain and ill-will disappear the second she takes command of the microphone and makes eye contact with you (there was plenty of that, we we so close!). I could go on for ages telling people how much I love her and why - but to retain a little mystery in what makes her so appealing, I'll leave it at this: see her live/listen to her songs/watch her videos, etc... I don't care what you do just do it. You will be so happy that you did.
I guess I'm full of sass right now because my shins and everything else in the lower half of my body are sore from all the walking and standing. Oh, and whenever I play "Carbon Monoxide" today I half expect some guy's delicate yet screechy falsetto to chime in on the "walk-a walk-a walk-a"s. Damn him!
