2 x Catherine/Greg ficlets for csi50

Jun 14, 2006 22:03

These are the last two ficlets I am posting tonight. I just wanted to get caught up on my csi50 claim.

Title: Harmless Flirtation 1/1
Author: Sweetness
Pairing: Catherine Willows/Greg Sanders interaction
Rating: FR13
Disclaimer: CSI belongs to Jerry Bruckheimer, CBS, and company.
Notes: Written for csi50 for set #1, prompt #20 (lab). Set during CSI Season Four.

As Catherine walked out of Greg’s lab, she smiled. He had been the only one of her co-workers to notice her new hairstyle and it made her laugh. Greg Sanders was a born flirt and he seemed to flirt with anyone who entered his lab, even Grissom. He enjoyed his work and his enjoyment was infectious. At least Catherine found that it was, not that she often let on to Greg. Still their harmless flirtation was something that she enjoyed since it made her feel attractive and younger and it always helped to relieve the stress of a busy day.

”Hey Cath,” Greg called out to her just as she was about to step out of his lab.
”Yes Greg?” Catherine asked as she turned to face him.
”I was wondering if you’d want to have breakfast with me when our shift’s over?”
”Okay,” Catherine replied, unsure of what was happening.
”Good. I’ll see you later then.”

Something had just happened between them but she wasn’t sure what it was. Catherine wondered briefly if Greg had just asked her out on a date, but she dismissed the idea. Greg probably just wanted to ask her about becoming a CSI since he seemed to be fascinated with the idea as of late.

Title: Harsh Light of Day 1/1
Author: Sweetness
Pairing: Catherine Willows/Greg Sanders
Rating: FR13
Disclaimer: CSI belongs to Jerry Bruckheimer, CBS and company.
Notes: Written for CSI50 for set #1, prompt #44 (light.) Set following “Harmless Flirtation.”

Instead of taking her to the diner that they all frequented after their shift, Greg had taken her to a fancy restaurant for their breakfast date. And instead of talking about work, he had focused the conversation on her, as if they were on a date.

”Greg, what’s going on here?” Catherine finally asked.
”A date,” Greg calmly replied with a smile.
”But…”
”But what Catherine? We’ve been flirting for a year now, I just thought that it was time to move things forward.”
”You flirt with everyone.”
”Not really.”
”Oh,” Catherine replied.
”I’m not asking you for anything that you’d be uncomfortable with.”
”Greg, the age difference between us,” Catherine stated, only to be interrupted by him again.
”Lots of people with a difference in age date one another.”
”Okay, but we’re co-workers.”
”Again, lots of co-workers date one another.”
”I have a daughter.”
”I already knew that Catherine and it doesn’t bother me at all.”

In the harsh light of day, Catherine didn’t feel as young or as attractive as she had felt earlier when she had been in his lab and had accepted his offer of a breakfast date. All she could see was their glaring differences, despite their obvious mutual attraction.

”Catherine, how about you quit making excuses and just give what we have a chance? That’s all I am asking for.”
”I don’t know, it’s just that,” Catherine started to say, before taking a deep breath. “Okay I can give us a chance.”
”Good,” Greg replied with a smile.
