Author: Sweetness
Pairing: none
Rating: FR13

Catherine Willows had worked countless of missing children cases in her career and she knew that time was the worse enemy for the investigators. The longer the amount of time passed since the child had gone missing, the colder the trail was. And even though she knew that the police department and crime lab were doing everything that they could do to find her daughter, it still seemed like nothing was being done. As she sat in Brass’ office, every single horrific crime scene that she had ever seen in her career was coming back to haunt her as she waited. It was as if her worst fear had come to life, and now she was just waiting for Brass to come into his office and tell her the bad news. That they had found her daughter’s body.

“Catherine, they found her,” Grissom said as he entered the room.

She looked at him in shock and she started to cry. Suddenly she felt as if she couldn’t breathe and she felt that it was unfair that she had been unable to protect her own daughter. Grissom quickly moved to her and pulled her into his arms.

”Catherine, she’s okay and unhurt. She had just wandered off on her own from her Grandmother’s. No one hurt your daughter. It’s alright,” Grissom reassured her as he held her close.
”She is?” Catherine asked.
“Yes, she’s alright.”

Title: Father - Daughter Conversations 1/1
Author: Sweetness
Pairing: none
Rating: FR13
Disclaimer: CSI belongs to Jerry Bruckheimer, CBS, and company.
Notes: Written for csi50 for set #2, prompt #34 (no sleep tonight.) Set during “Grave Danger” (CSI 5x24.)

Catherine stared at her father and she realized that his demand was appropriate, especially since the crime lab and the Vegas Police Department had never treated him respect over the years. Why should he really care that a CSI had gotten kidnapped? And when it came down to it, Catherine had come down to his casino not as a cop looking for a handout but she had come as a parent. She couldn’t idly stand by after she had seen the looks of horror and sorrow on the faces of Nick’s parents. Catherine knew that she had to do something, so she had done the one thing she knew she could.

“Dad, one of the CSI’s has been kidnapped and the lab refuses to pay the ransom for Nicky because the Police Department refuses to negotiate with terrorists.”
”How did this happen, your mother’s told me that you always have a cop or another CSI on the scene with you.”
”We do but the cop with Nick had turned his back while Nick was investigating the evidence. His parents can’t raise the ransom in time and the sick bastard who kidnapped him has buried Nicky alive,” Catherine said with a sob.
“Okay sweetheart, I’ll get you the money,” Sam said as he held open his arms for her.

He knew that even with the money, his daughter was going to have a long and hard night with no sleep. It worried him more than he cared to admit because she was in a job where she was so vulnerable to attack from any criminal with a grudge, or stupid enough to add assault of an officer to their list of crimes. Yet he knew that it was too late for him to tell her to get a new job. Sam couldn’t just become the father that he should have been overnight, too many years had passed between them for that to happen. Instead he’d do the one thing for her that he could, he’d make sure that she had the money so that she could help save her friend.

Title: Ordinary Day 1/1
Author: Sweetness
Pairing: none
Rating: FR13
Disclaimer: CSI belongs to Jerry Bruckheimer, CBS and company.
Notes: Written for csi50 for set #2, prompt #16 (ordinary.) Set during CSI Season Five.

As Catherine Willows took in the gruesome crime scene before her, she had to wonder precisely when seeing the worse that humans could do to one another had become normal to her. Her stomach no longer became queasy at the physical evidence of violence. Blood in vast quantities only made her groan in displeasure because it meant more work while she carefully worked the scene and collected the evidence. She couldn’t remember when it had become ordinary for her and she missed the part of her that she had lost. She regretted being so cynical, even if it allowed her to do her job better before when she had suffered from the emotional responses. Catherine sighed as she stepped into the room where the murder had occurred. There was no time for regret or reflection; she had a job to do if she was going to catch a killer.

Title: Hostile Situation
Author: Sweetness
Pairing: Catherine/Sara interaction
Rating: FR13
Disclaimer: CSI belongs to Jerry Bruckheimer, CBS, and company.
Notes: Written for csi50 for set #2, prompt #4 (ooze). Set during CSI Season Four.

Her working relationship with Sara had always been pleasant since the two of them were often paired together to work on cases. They had shared the same views on crime and justice and Catherine had thought they had made a formidable team. That was until Sara had started to behave differently around Catherine. At first, Sara had just acted cold towards her and then it seemed as if the blonde oozed hostility whenever Catherine walked into the room. It had taken Catherine some time to realize that Sara was jealous of Catherine’s position as Grissom’s right hand. If she knew of some way that she could tell the younger woman that she wasn’t interested in their boss, she would. Instead Sara became colder and the distance between the two grew wider. And Catherine watched as their working relationship disintegrated.
