"i'm not laughing at you, i'm laughing at the situation" is the new "i'm not laughing at you, i'm laughing with you." why can't anyone just admit that they're laughing at me when they obviously are.

in a burst of optimism, i have two plans for my last five/six days here. the first is to clean out/throw away/donate all my old clothes and other crap, i have an absolutely ridiculous amount of crap (ask anyone who's seen my closet). the second, far more interesting plan, is to create a smashing pumpkins chess set in the vein of this, as a sort of test run of improved methods of chess piece making (casting molds and so forth). should be a huge improvement on my last attempt (maybe i won't have to stick tape on the bottom of the pieces so they'll stand up). for someone who doesn't like chess all that much i sure like chess sets. anyway, i'm already planning this out in my head with glee; billy's bald, enormous head on the queen piece (he absolutely must be the queen, not the king, so he gets some play time). i'll probably make jimmy the king (seems more appropriate than either d'arcy or james, since he's still friends with billy, also considering his technical prowess) and make james and d'arcy bishops....the rest of it is a little fuzzy, it seems like there should be loads of symbols related to SP but aside from the obvious (uh, pumpkins?) i haven't thought of much. i was thinking it'd be mellon collie era, except i might have d'arcy with longer hair because otherwise she'll look like a boy, knowing my skill level, so maybe something that relates to that, failing all else i'm sure a star piece would look nice as the pawns. i'm not sure what i'll make the board out of but i promise it won't be duct tape. anyway, i hope to get as far as the molds before i go back to berkeley.
