House inspection

Today we went here!

See that white house on the left? That house is... OUR house! As in, a house bought and paid for (eventually..) by US! It just blows my mind. I have a HOUSE.

Today was house inspection day. A dude from the building company and an inspector dude met us at ~OUR HOUSE~ and went through every nook and cranny with us. We found two cabinet doors that are a little sticky that he said he'd fix, but other than that, everything looked pretty good!

PIKCHURS

The view from one of the balconies. I like that big tree.

This was taken literally three steps away from our front door. There are a bunch of farm plots around our house, and in the distance you can see Seya Hongo Park, which is a really nice, big (by Japan standards) park with a really cool playground, tennis courts, a baseball field and a soccer field. One of the things that drew me to this house was the quiet and the green.

RooG and Osuga-san the building company dude looking over our yard. Which is a mud pit right now. Eventually it'll have grass, but right now there are more pressing concerns. Namely, we have to buy curtains and air conditioning units. Went to the electronic store yesterday and AC units are EXPENSIVE. orz

After the inspection, we spent a few hours pottering around Seya. I was worried that it would be Nothing Town, but it's really not as bad as I had expected. The supermarket is old and dingy, but at least it's big. From our house to the station is a little less than 20 minutes, and the roads are mostly big enough to walk comfortably. It seems like a nice place, really. :) And best of all. Seya has an Indian restaurant that, in our taste test, BEAT our current local Indian restaurant in terms of deliciousness!

Amazing. Every bite was delicious. The naan in particular was a revelation. Although next time I'll order a smaller lunch set, cos I was pretty stuffed after all that. ;O

What's also pretty cool is that in 2015, the Sotetsu train line (which Seya is on) will be somehow joined with the JR Yokosuka and Tokaido lines. That means we can get to Tokyo, and Narita Airport, and other cool places, in one train. I have a feeling Seya, and places along the Sotetsu line in general, will become a lot more popular. We were lucky to get in when we did, I think. :)

I'm SO excited to finally be able to lay down ROOTS of my own. We managed to say hi to one next-door neighbor who was working in her garden. I can't wait to meet ALL of our neighbors! So excited! YAY HOUSE!!!
