Red Dead Redemption rambling

I'm at over 50% completion in Red Dead Redemption! I'm in Mexico, and I seem to have finished the DeSanta missions and now I'm working with Reyes. I gotta say, I still love the game and enjoy playing it, but the story got a lot less interesting once the setting changed from the US to Mexico.... :/

In the US you got to meet with all kinds of crazy and unique characters. But everyone in Mexico is wrapped up in the war (the Mexican Revolution). If the game would actually take the time to really explain why all these people are fighting and present a balanced view of both sides, a la Assassin's Creed III, I might actually be brought to care. But it doesn't, so I don't. :/

I also feel bad for John because he's CONSTANTLY getting dicked around by people. I swear every mission starts with someone saying "Do ____ for me and I'll help you get your wife and son back", and then you do, and they're like "Ok, now do ____ for me and I'll help you get your wife and son back." Poor guy can't catch a break. ;__;

One thing I DO love about being in Mexico are all the sassy Spanish-ish epithets John yells while fighting. Gems like "John Marston! Remember el nombre!", and my personal favorite, "YOU! ARE ALL! MUERTO!"

I had to do this mission ("Eva in Peril") four times because I suck at dueling... which means I got to see this cutscene four times. Whee~~

And one more thing I have to whine about... aske, was it you that was telling me that something really cool happens when you first enter Mexico? Well, it didn't happen for me. Apparently if you get off your horse, the cool thing doesn't happen. (After the mission with Irish I got on my horse, then immediately got off of it when I realized there were dead dudes I hadn't looted yet.)

But today in his game, RooG reached Mexico and the cool thing happened and... it was indeed pretty cool. I had forgotten that something cool was even supposed to happen. However my awe was tempered by disappointment that it didn't happen in my game. ;___;

Aaanyway. Today was Friday, which means I had the whole day to myself. I did some exercise (TurboFire HIIT 20 + Short on Time Flow + 15 Minute Hip Opener n Yogaglo ) and sat on my duff playing RDR. Then taught a class at night that went really well, and RooG and I had a late dinner at Saizeriya. A pretty good day. :)

Do you guise think I bought enough gum when I was in the States? I LOVE this gum. Key Lime Pie is my favorite.
