What is this strange and yet, somehow familiar feeling that consumes me? I am fangirling so hard over Assassin's Creed III that it's pretty embarassing. I thought my obsessive fangirl days were over, yet here I am again...
I've never really played an Assassin's Creed game. I played the first one for a few minutes, and watched RooG play for a few hours, at my awesome cousin's house a few years ago. It seemed like a cool game but for whatever reason I never ended up buying it.
But as soon as I heard that ACIII would be set during the American Revolution I was ALL OVER THAT SHIT!! The Revolutionary War is my historical obsession and has been since I was a little kid. As a first grader I would read biographies of Nathan Hale and Betsy Ross and daydream about somehow meeting my hero George Washington. I know, I'm weird.
The game is apparently a pretty accurate representation of events. Boston and New York are replicated exactly, down to the alleys. You walk the streets and hear people speaking in different languages and accents. Already in the game I've witnessed, first hand, the Boston Tea Party and the Battle of Bunker Hill, among other things. (
This awesome article explains a lot of the hard work that went into creating a realistic potrayal of the era.) So I'm in hog heaven as it is just soaking up my favorite time period...
...but I wasn't banking on getting so invested in Connor and Haytham!!!
Their angsty-son-and-absentee-father dynamic gives me SO MANY FEELS!!!!!!! I am helpless against this game. (The fact that they're both smoking hot certainly doesn't hurt either.......)
The funny thing is, after owning the game for a week I have completed exactly.... 5%. I like playing the game, but I'm awful at it, and thus I progress really slowly cos I keep getting Desynchronized or whatever. So whenever RooG's around I put the controller in his hand and make him play, and I watch. :D He's at around 30% and right now he's supposed to be meeting Sexy Haytham at Valley Forge but instead he's biffing around New York.
Oh, and yesterday morning I discovered this video and I've already watched it at least 30 times by now. Sadly, that's not an exaggeration. Then I bought the song on iTunes and listened to it on repeat. It is my jam! Best song ever, y/y?

Aaaanyway. The scratchy throat I had a few days ago had indeed blossomed into a full-on cold. Again. So I thought I'd try the
honey and cinnamon homecure this time around, which basically means that I've been having a spoonfull of honey with a bunch of cinnamon sprinkled on top three times a day, and also mixing it up in hot water and drinking it when my throat is really sore or scratchy.
Does it work? The "tea" definitely works wonders on my throat. As for whether or not it cures a cold... well, I woke up yesterday in Sore Throat (phase 1 of a cold for me), and now I'm firmly in Cough (phase 3, the final stage). So I'd say it's at least hastened the cold's progression. Good to know! Hopefully I'll be better by Monday, when I have five classes to teach..
In other news...
★Pina has apparently figured out how to climb up to pretty tall places! Wow!
★Went to a nice bounenkai (end-of-year party) for the class of adults I sometimes teach on Friday nights. RooG came and there was lots of food and we had a good time!
★We watched the premiere of Steve-O's new show Killer Karaoke and it was hilarious! Will definitely be tuning in next week.
