Tokyo Disneyland... sucked today.

RooG and I spent the day at Tokyo Disneyland. Here's what RooG wore to the park today. The T-shirt was a birthday present to him from my mom. :)

We always buy our tickets in advance at The Disney Store in Yokohama because it saves us from waiting on the huge line to buy tickets at the park in the morning. But it was cold and rainy for most of the day today. :( You would think that on rainy days the park would be less crowded, but not Tokyo Disneyland. Nothing will keep the Japanese away. So not only was it cold and rainy, but it was super crowded too. Worst combination possible.

TDL is pretty small and tight-feeling as it is, but add in a billion people carrying umbrellas and you have huge traffic jams. Plus the cold and the rain and people pushing and hitting you in the face with their umbrellas and little kids underfoot weaving in and out and loooooooong lines for pretty much everything and.... yeah. It sucked, basically. I can't remember the last time I had as much UNfun at a Disney park. :-C

We only went on five measly attractions...

Pirates of the Caribbeans
The Enchanted Tiki Room
Jingle Bell Jamboree (which was the Christmas version of Country Bear Jamboree and was absolutely HORRIBLE from start to finish)
Splash Mountain (my favorite, yay!)
Mickey's PhilharMagic

I ended up buying a new, long poncho to stay semi-dry. Does this make me look fat?

There were more disappointments ahead. RooG's favorite ride, Big Thunder Mountain, looked like this when we got there.

Pooh's Hunny Hunt was also closed. The rain meant that two different shows were canceled altogether. And we tried to get tickets for our favorite show, One Man's Dream, but we failed (if that's the right word) at the lottery and thus could not see the show. I had been stoked to see all the Christmas decorations, but they weren't that great this year, and there were a lot fewer of them than usual. waahhh

We had to wait on line for an hour for a table at the Blue Bayou restaurant for lunch. Passed the time for a while by taking dumb pictures of ourselves in the mirror.

Once we finally were seated, we had a really nice lunch and were able to chillax for a while. Dessert was a "pistachio cream and pastry Christmas tree." It was pretty good! But why is my face so shiny??

Normally I like poking in to each and every one of the shops to see all the cute stuff they have on sale..

... but the stores were jam packed with people so it wasn't much fun. RooG got a cool light-up Mike Wazowski pendant, though. And some cookie assortments for his relatives, my relatives, and ourselves, :3

Dinner was at our other favorite restaurant, Grandma Sara's Kitchen. Main dish was "omelette rice with chicken in cream sauce", plus a salad and a semi-tasty arrangement of coffee-flavored cream puffs. The Japanese really love cream puffs.

It was nighttime, so we checked out the Christmas lights...

... and then we left the park. At 6 PM. Which is INSANELY early for us. But we were cooked at that point. We just wanted to go home rather than fight the crowds in a store or wait for 40~120 minutes for some ride or be cold outside. So we did.

I guess I'm officially a fitness junkie, because as soon as I got home I did 20 minutes of yoga followed by Insanity: Fast and Furious. Felt so much better afterwards. :D

So, yeah. You guys know I love Tokyo Disney Resort 4ever. But we learned two valuable lessons today. #1, no more buying our tickets in advance if we can avoid it. We will go only if the weather is good. And #2, no more going on a weekend or holiday during the Christmas season. :C
