My work visa expires next month, so I've been spending the past few weeks getting all the necessary documents ready to reapply. My current visa was sponsored by my company, but I decided to switch over to a spousal visa. I don't think I even could get a regular work visa, since I don't work full time. And the way I see it, companies will come and go but RooG will always be there <3 (I sincerely hope so, anyway!)
RooG was kind enough to call the immigration office a bunch of times to make sure we had everything we needed. We did, so I paid the immigration office a visit at their new location. Before, the office was in Motomachi, right in the center of Yokohama and also close to Chinatown. The new office is located in the MIDDLE OF NOWHERE and is very inconvenient. -_-
It took over an hour to get there (two trains and a bus), but finally, we got there.
I took a number and waited for my turn. They called my number and I showed them all the documents and said I'd like to switch to a spousal visa. And then the lady handed me this FAT packet of papers and asked me to fill it out.
The thing was like 15 pages long. All in Japanese, of course. It started with the basics (our addresses, workplace addresses, phone numbers, blah blah) and then it got kinda wacky. Lemme see if I remember the questions...
How did you meet? Tell us about your relationship, from the beginning until now, in as much detail as possible.(O__o)
Who in your family knows that you're married?
What language do you communicate with?
What do you do when you can't understand what your spouse is saying?
How many times has your spouse been to your native country? (They wanted the specific dates too)
blah blah blah
A whole page was focused on the wedding ceremony itself. They wanted TWO witness accounts, written by people who attended the ceremony. But WE DIDN'T HAVE A CEREMONY, because wedding ceremonies are stupid. Go us! Got to skip that page. :D
It took over an hour but finally I got it filled out. The lady looked it over and said it looked ok, and they'll let me know by mail when/ if it gets approved. -_- Then I get to go alllll the way back there to pick it up (and pay 8000 yen for the privilege). Sheesh.
Today I'm at home all by my lonesome cos RooG is working staff at the Dream Cup, a big karate tournament in Tokyo. I went to yoga, played some Plants vs Zombies, wrote two postcards and watched Teen Mom. Such a thrilling life I lead.
Speaking of postcards, a while ago they started selling these stamps:
Pretty, right? They're from the manga Rose of Versailles. RooG apparently watched the anime when he was little and loved it, and I love love that era of French history (from Louis XIV to the French Revolution), so we started watching the anime from episode 1...
...and now we're on episode 27. D: It's so cheesy and wonderful, and pretty close to history, too. We recommend it!! Check it out.
Here's TekiNacho. Nacho is so tiny compared to Teki, but still wears the pants in the relationship.
I'm on a big NIN kick these days. It's kinda sad cos Mr. Reznor doesn't seem so interested in NIN these days, so I doubt we'll be hearing any new NIN music anytime soon. But we can still enjoy old stuff. :)
Also, finished reading the second Game of Thrones book and now I'm 100 pages or so into the third one. :) can't WAIT till season 2 of the TV show!!
