I found out yesterday that Junichi Hasegawa-shibucho, the branch chief of the Saitama dojos in my karate organization and a high-ranking karateka,
passed away suddenly from "acute cardiac insufficiency", whatever that is. He was only 50. I never spoke to him personally but of course I saw him at all the major events. I took one of classes at a summer camp a few years ago, and at the 2008 Zen-Kanto tournament, his daughter was my opponent.. and she totally kicked my ass and went on to win the whole thing. I hope she can come back from this and keep training and keep kicking butt. She's just out of high school now.
Of course, the one semi-good thing that happens when someone you know dies, is that it reminds you of how precious and fleeting life is. It puts things in perspective.
In other news, it's gotten really hot and humid here all of a sudden. D: I went to yoga for Yoga Basic today, and noticed right away that I seemed to be sweating a lot more than usual. D: I toughed it out but my heart rate was super high and I wasn't feeling so good. I guess Hayashi-sensei noticed that my savasana at the end didn't look so restful, so she left the classroom and came back with a cold wet towel and put it on my neck <3 <3 <3 Which made me feel a lot better. I love her. <3 I guess my body's just adjusting to the change in seasons.
I'm hungry. It's lunchtime!! Time to EAT.
ALSO!! This is the best video ever and you must watch it. I've already seen it like 10 times and it never stops being funny. I was so impressed with RooG, who yesterday sent me an email that said "RIP IT! DIP IT! SIP IT!" He's a fan as well. <3
